Trinity

On July 16, 1945 the world entered the nuclear age. As part of a secret American program called "The Manhattan Project," scientists successfully tested the first atomic bomb in the desert near Los Alamos, New Mexico.  This test was called "Trinity" and registered an explosion of 20 kilotons, which is the equivalent of 44 million pounds of dynamite.

After the successful test, which was the culmination of 4 years of hard work, the Unites States now had two bombs that they planned to use to end the war in Japan.
